He clearly misunderstood that law...it would be in addition to a charge of reckless or street racing. No officer is going to get kicks dealing with the paperwork of a impound for a ridiculous moving violation.

Whether you agree with it or not, the hiring process for that job is grueling and stressful. The purpose is to eliminate the bad apples from the start, and hiring honest, truthful individuals. The % of bad apples is FAR less than 50%. What YOU believe took place and what HE believes took place may be completely different. That alone does not make an officer a liar. You just have a different perspective of what may be safe operation of a motor vehicle....Now I know there are bad cops who have lied....but I just have a hard time seeing a cop going to court and lying about a stupid civil ticket. Something that can not only cause him to lose his job, but land him in jail as he lies under oath. Most patrol vehicles are equipped with video recording devices and someone is ALWAYS watching...

What you think is the truth and what actually happened can often be different as well. That doesn't make you or him a liar.....no disrespect intended. But you are right....the bad stories stick with us
