I know we have always said amongs our selves, that unless you are "pinging" "detonating", there is a reason to go to the higher octane.

the only thing is, then if you are at the track and start pinging with half a tank. then again, if ur like me and have an LT1, you run 91 or higher all the time regardless

it doesnt sense higher octane, it just makes repeated calculations based on info from the sensors on the car and start increasing the spark advance till it gets knock, then pulls it back.
my LT1 scanmaster has a setting to show my spark advance and retard, and im usually around 44-47 deg advance.
