which is why formula one and nascar use 87 right? What...no that's right, they use 100+ octane, my bad

Edit: I know this is a highly controversial subject, but the selling point for me is racing. Everyone in the business of making horsepower uses higher octane fuels. These people spend millions upon millions of dollars in research getting this right. That's my selling point. Much like the conventional oil vs synthetic argument. I didn't believe the hype until formula one finally started using synthetic. Change over the day after they did, because with this heavy of a machine running in the business of making the highest, most reliable horsepower, their word (or example in this case) speaks louder than anything. Won't catch me putting anything lower that manufacturer's recommendation at the minimum, and if I want HP, I crank up the octane - if it's good for multimillion dollar race cars, it's good enough for me.
