I don't want to make my car just a monster with no control. I don't want my own car to scare me. I want it to be fun to drive. They did mention that the twin turbo cars are quiet. I don't want a loud car, but a nice rumble is fun.

I am still on the fence between the supercharger and the turbo charger. One thing I know for sure, I am going to see and at least ride in a car that has one of each in it. It's too much money and too big a change in the car to jump in to without knowing what I'll be getting.

What do you think of superchargers?

I do love the sound of a cam. Your car sounds awesome in the videos.

I will go talk to the guys at New Era next week. I won't dive into anything without knowing what I'm getting myself in to.

I'm sure I will be in touch with you and prostock69 again.

Thank you!
They are correct about the turbo. You can make 600hp really easy. They can make way more and are somewhat scalable once installed. If you get the right install and your making 600hp you can later on turn up the wick and make 700hp if you want. I know your on the fence and your getting info coming at you from all sides. I personally think that supercharges (centrifugal or turbo NOT Roots or high helix) are really easy way to make a lot of power. This is why they are so attractive to the general public. I personally have spent my life in the persuite of power using normally aspirated engines so I want to make power using Camming, compression, RPM and induction system tuning. Many Camaro owners would not take the route I have chose and take the slightly more economical and simpler route of supercharging. Supercharged car have 10 times better street manners than my car and they have power at much lower RPMs so you don't have to turn the engine 7000rpm.

"Roots or High helix type Supercharger"= Two spinning interlocking blades that pre-compress the air in the housing increasing intake charge temp. They make excellent TQ and power but there efficiency curve falls off sharply at higher RPMs. Not my first chioce in superchargers thats for sure. Maggy's are high helix/Roots types superchargers.

"Turbo" Single spinning impeller driven off of exhaust gas pressure and speed. It increases air speed and trades it for boost pressure. No other means of supercharging is as efficient. The power and RPM potential of a turbo far exceeds any other means of supercharging. In my opinion the draw backs are packaging. Since the exhaust gas is the energy source that makes the boost the air must pass over the hot impeller making the the need for a good inter-cooler a must! Under hood heat issues are also something you have to contend with.

"centrifugal" Basicly a crankshaft driven turbo charger. This single spinning impeller Increases air velocity and trades air speed for air pressure "boost". Awesome street manners, very high power potential, scalable for future power increases and in my opinion, the best over all street power adder there is. You have no under hood heat issues like a turbo charger. If the belt that drives the supercharger breaks the engine will still run. A Roots type will not keep running if the belt fails. An inter-cooler is not necessary inmost cases but recommended anyway.
Pro-Chargers, Vortech and Paxton are centrifugal superchargers.
