it's not like the trans cooler is a refrigerator, although that would be cool

there is a exponential curve of trans temp vs. cooling rate... meaning, if the temp of the trans oil is around 220, and the cooler cooled it 20 degrees to 200, then there is not a linear relationship if the trans oil was 180, the cooler would not cool it 20 degrees as well down to 160, it would be more like 10-15 degrees... you get diminishing cooling effects the closer the trans oil is to the ambient temp outside

yeah i dusted off my thermodynamics book to make that analysis!
