I think the first question the OP should ask himself is "what purpose will the car serve?" I have a heavily modded C6 Corvette that will run 10.9 in the quarter mile. As a car to race on the track, it is great! But...the street characteristics are terrible! The large cam causes bucking when under 80mph. Since I am no longer going to be racing, I am looking at selling it and buying a 2SS to play with and have as my DD. I bought my 08 back in 08 with 10k miles for $40k. The work that I have in the car would have run around $15k (I hydrolocked the factory LS3, my insurance company gave me money for a new long block and the shop did the stroker 418 short block at the same price as the factory LS3 replacement cost, so it was a no brainer at the time). If you want a car that is just wicked fast, find a used GS Corvette and do a stroker. For $55k, you could be turning speeds faster than the ZR1 with lower maintanence costs. Or, if you want a car that is easier to get in and out of, get a 2SS and put a stroker under the hood. Not to slam the aftermarket companies that brand their modifications, but a good performance shop can help you build the car that you want for the purposes you are going to use it with. Good luck with your decision!!!!
