It think I will revise my answer. I won't wait for the SS specifically, but rather the best engine option.
If they do like they did with the 4th gen Camaros and both the Z28 and SS have the same engine but "different" ratings, then I will be inclined to go with the cheaper of the two.
Basically I want an LS3....not the L76 or any other "lesser" V8 they might put in it.
