Okay, I'm no mechanical wiz. Before getting my Camaro I probably knew just enough to keep myself safe (as oposed to enough to be dangerous). My Dad was a mechanic & he taught me basic things he thought I needed to know. Since being on this site I have been reading & trying to learn. Sometimes it gets hard because even reading some technical stuff is way over my head. But I thought I knew enough about my car to make it through my class reunion. Wrong! I was showing it to a classmate who started questioning me. I was okay with 0 to 60, HP, suspension, brakes, etc. He comments I could probably take him off the line but he thinks he would pass me before the quarter mile. Then he asks "I guess you don't know what kind of rear end it has do you?" Of course I did not. I asked my husband about it & he says "it's complicated" then tells me just enough to confuse me & stopped. I know this is not mechanics 101, but can anyone give me a basic understandable answer to the question?
