They don't want to or they can't? I'm just curious because we have a couple of local dealers that have two of them sitting there! They are Nice cars, but dealer greed (markups) kills the sales of some of these cars!
We had a local Chevy dealer that when the Camaro's first came out, wanted $3k over sticker for them (some were even worse as far as price gouging). I just laughed at them and said that I'll be back in a year or so and get a used one for a healthy discount off of new! I won't be looking at a Z28 from them.
As far as the A6 trans, the CTS-V that John Heinricy set the Nurburgring record with was an automatic trans car, so I couldn't see the reason for not having an A6 option in the Z28. Purists can say that the original 67-69 Z28's didn't have an automatic, but they also didn't have a blower on it and countless other things. Times change and if you don't change with them, you end up on a sinking ship! GM can't make everyone happy ( but it seems like they're not going to stop trying, which I applaud. At least they're listening to what peeps want and building the car according to that
