If you are looking at the GMPP catgalog then yes, there is a big difference in the price of the engines. Remembers, those are retail numbers. GM can produce those engines for a whole lot less than they are selling them as crate engines. I think an honest estimate is about 10k over 2SS.
R & D? These are off the shelf parts on a platform they already have. I would think the cost is at a minimum. I feel the GT500 is the goal, and if they over shoot it on the price, they will not sell. Why would anyone buy a Z or whatever its called at price X, when they can get a GT500 for less than X. Brand loyalty? Eh! Don't think so. It doesn't make sense, Gm knows this. It will perform and be priced similar to the 500 or it will be a bust.
