If it were me I would go with the z28....it will be more rare for the next couple years. Looks are subjective but the camaro already has great looks...and if GM makes it look even better with the z28 it could be killer. I wouldnt pass it up in the 50k range compared to the vette.
I know less vettes are produced...but the same body style has been on the road for 6 years. I see more corvettes than camaros around here.
It doesn't matter to me...but a lot of people like to have a car that they dont see very often...the z28 will definitely be that for a couple years.
Performance...right on par with the vette
Price...should be slightly cheaper than a GS (going by msrp...but still speculation)
Rarity...the z28 will be more rare.
Looks....man thats a tough one...I would call it a tie. But its hard to say because we havent seen a production z28
I would pick the z28. But I am a camaro guy. If I were middle of the road it would be a toss up IMO. You should test drive and take a good look at both and make a decision.

I agree with most of your points, but what I have bolded above is untrue. I just watched a video (Car & Driver, I believe) that pitted the two cars against each other and the GS Vette went around that particular road track 3 seconds faster, which is a lifetime in the track world. While the GT500 may accelerate and run the 1/4 in the same time as the Vette, it cannot compete on the road course (which is where every bit of performance is wrung out of a car - not just acceleration and horsepower). That is exactly the thing that I hope the Z/28 will change...I want it to be a world-class handling car...which I fear is wishful thinking.
