liter-per-liter comparison isn't of any value.
If two engines make the same hp, but one has more torque, the engine making more torque will always be faster.
Enter the LS1 Camaro. When that engine went into the Camaro Z/SS from 1998-2002, it was game over for the Stang. It dominated the speed/hp wars throughout it's 5 year lifespan.
Ford responded with a supercharged SVT, but the Camaro had already ceased production. The history books had already been written.
Ford
lost the pony car wars to the LS-1 Camaros.
Even if the LS-1 F-bodies had continued production, the high end supercharged SVT cost a lot more than the SS. And the base GT Stang was still
wayyyy underpowered compared to the base Z-28.
