At the time I bought the Camaro, the 5.0 wasn't out. So when comparing the Camaro to the Mustang, it was a no-brainer. The Challenger was actually a harder decision, but it's price ended up being the deciding factor for me.
Having said that, if I were buying today I'd probably still go with the SS. It's roomier, rides smoother and performs about the same as the 5.0.
Sitting inside the Mustang felt like being inside a compact car. I'm also not sure if, 5 years down the road, I'd regret having had a daily driver with a SRA, potentially optional gears, and a louder exhaust. That stuff all sounds cool when you're looking for something that scoots, but I can easily see it becoming a drag when the shine wears off.
