The magizines are a more credible source than people posting their times, but of course there will be cars built faster (with better drivers, and better conditions) than the ones used in the magazines. The magizines just consitantly show that the Mustang is a bit faster. The 12.7 sec ones tested likely had the 3.73 gear in the car, as far as I can tell.

I did look at the first page of the article, and didn't see where it said the guy that ran 12.5 had a 3.31. Crazy fast (bit hard to believe that it was not modified or wrong gear was indicated). If he had a 3.73 I wonder what he would have gotten.
