The service manager and the mechanic told me that the warrantee would be fine, but they wanted my original air box setup back in the car for the "GM inspector" that could make a fuss about the CAI (mine is a K&N) and possibly refuse the warrantee claim. They said that if it was a GM from the performance parts division, it could have stayed on without issue. He called the K&N a "jobber" part and not usually approved by GM.

The dealership is very much on my side and this makes sense as they "want" the job and to be paid by GM for the repair. For an owner of a service bench-business such as my own, I fully understand them needing to keep their techs busy. Why would they refuse this big warrantee service and not get the job? It's not like I would pay for this repair that may be anywhere in the 10K mark! I would go legal on them if it came to it, especially since I bought the extended warrantee as well. This is obviously a dud engine that just didn't stand up for more than 10,000 KMs and should be replaced. The dealership (Royal) actually did make a small boo-boo last time I had my engine oil changed there this spring, and they put in regular oil when I had ordered synthetic. When I picked up the car then, they told me of the error and offered to re-do it right away with synthetic. I appreciated thier honesty, could not wait and told them upon next oil change in the fall. I went in early to do it, to keep all break in metal bits outta my crankcase. I guess there will be plenty of metal shavings in the bottom of my oil pan now! :[

I told them of my membership to Camaro5.com and the subject of my "Camaro buddies", information exhanged and passion for all details Camaro is well understood. I would recommend that you bring your car there, Rickray, if your original dealer was Plaza also. I have reason not to trust Plaza, but Royal Chevy in Lasalle has been awesome, capable and very clear and honest with me. Call Dominic at the service desk and mention my name if you want. They had a sweeeet 1970 Oragne RS Camaro on the lift when I was there, WOW, probably my favorite body of all!

The perma-grin effect pictured above by a good buddy giving me a ride in my Camaro!
Used 75 Camaro = $3500
Rolling restoration over 10 years = $5000
$5 of gas burned in 10 seconds = Priceless!
