I'd look for a 350hp camaro and leave the factory 500 to the corvette. If they match this to the beloved vette in factory horses.. you're going to have some pissed off owners! I look forward to a good time in these forums... lata!
Nah, the Corvette guys will be safe... with the new ZR1 pushing 650hp it elevates the Corvette high enough to allow a 500hp Camaro underneath. Plus, the Z06 weighs hundreds of pounds less than the Camaro so even WITH equal horsepower, the Corvette will still be MUCH faster in all conditions.

350hp just isn't enough. You can probably get that from the V6!

500hp is the competitive figure that Camaro MUST achieve to be credible. The new mustang GT (2009) will be pushing 380hp (according to the rumors) and the Challenger SRT-8 will be pushing 425hp (prolly 450 by then) so the Camaro SS really HAS to have over 450hp.

They have already announced that they can get 500hp from the LS3 Block with GEN V heads on it, so its already a done deal from a technology point of view... now its just about marketing, sales, and pricing. Since its still a common block I don't expect a huge price increase.

I'm pretty comfortable with the idea of a 475->550hp Camaro SS coming out in 2010 for around $40K. Probably a little less, maybe a little more. All the technology is pointing in that direction.
