that's not to say you can't force a downshift on launch by punching it.
i'll admit i've never tried sport mode w/comp on so that may be where
i'm mistaken.

Don't confuse tap shifting M (manual mode) with D (Drive) or S (Sport).
Its a 100% fact that you always start from 1st gear in D (Drive) and S (Sport)
when going full throttle from a dead stop.
When you go full throttle from a dead stop, the computer puts the car in 1st gear.
