What attracts me the most about the Z28, is that you get a more beefed up engine, upgraded suspension, better brakes, stronger trani and gearbox, better clutch, better cooling system and SC, all done by manufacture under warranty. To pull that through yourself (including forged engine) and labor, that's minimum of $20K on the top of a $36K car without warranty.
Otherwise I would get an SS and put a Whipple on it.

Remember though that unlike the LS9, the LSA is not completely forged, although it is lower compression and is set up for boost.
