To answer your question, yes, 275's are more than enough to handle your power output. There are 8 sec Outlaw and Truestreet cars that are running 275's. The X-factor that limits our cars are two things:

Tire sidewall - 20" wheels won't allow a tall enough tire to "ripple" from a holeshot. These stock low profile tires are good for looks and all around driving, but they're not made for off-the-line acceleration.

Chassis modifications - I always laugh when I see guys (not neccesarily on this forum) who put these gigantic meats underneath their cars to help compensate for a lack of chassis modifications. There is more to gaining traction than just the width of the tires. "Suspension squat" and "rebound" will provide you with more traction than the tires will - that's why it's so vital to improve your suspension when you add significantly more power than the stock platform was engineered to handle. Look, chassis mods aren't "sexy." You can't polish them or show them off at a car show, but if you plan on increasing your drivetrain's power, you'll never see your car's full potential until you can plant it on the ground.
