yeah i completely understand the downshift time, but that's a different - less annoying issue that i figure there's nothing doable about. but the "hesitation" that i'm describing can be duplicated when i'm using Tap Shift as well. Tap Shift does not turn off AFM; it only allows you to drive at higher speeds in lower gears with higher RPM's - so not only are you not allowing AFM to kick in, but you're killing your MPG for the fact that you're not cruising in a higher gear when you could be. i could drive around town, "red-lining" it in 1st or 2nd gear and not get any "hesitation". i hope this answers your question.
