I would tell him to try to find a remaining 2010 that is still sitting on a dealership lot.
The prices are heavily discounted, there are a bunch of incentives and they really want to move them out at this point (I would assume).
He'll pay a couple grand more, but he'll also enjoy being the original owner (higher resale if he needs to sell it) as well as the full 36 mo/36k of the warranty.
