Well local to LA the 3 tracks are:
California Speedway - AutoClub Speedway in Fontana is a 1/4 mile . They also have a road course, and an oval. Karting in the parking lot.

Willow Springs in Rosamond has Big Track, Streets of Willow, Horsethief Mile. They sometimes run drag racing at the track.

Each site has a Calendar of events, which promoter is running on what days. Call them up, check out the sites of the guys running the events. Expect a couple hundred dollars for an entry fee. Then make sure the car is in good running order.
Let them know you haven't run at the track before, and they will help you out, point you in the right direction. Most will have instructors, and show you the way around the track.
On my off time from STILLEN I am team manager on a race team that runs in World Challenge Touring Car, and the last few years I have done a ton of events locally with NASA. If you have any questions, let me know.
