In full disclosure, I will say that some people are experiencing a "rattle" after installation of shorty headers. This is due to either the installer not putting the heat shield back on tightly or, in my case, the additional length of the headers made the exhaust hang about 1/4inch lower. This means it was hitting the tunnel brace. It's annoying as all hell, but a simple fix. What I did was purchase the tunnel brace from Elite Engineering, which is recessed to allow more clearance for the exhaust pipes. I have heard a cheaper route is to just put some washers under the stock tunnel brace. Either way, problem solved.
Are you saying that they are welded on to the HFC..and not Bolt on?
