The dealers get allocations for a certain number of cars but they only fill whatever orders they want to. If you ordered a paint color which they had production problems with, then they would put white cars on "constraint" and someone with another color would get built (possibly taking up your "allocated" car from your dealer). I had to wait 9 months for my 1994 Z28 to get built, and they (cleverly) decided to build it the month before they switched over to 1995's. I said they must make it a 1995 and give me "price protection" and they did. So I received my car in September and drove it for 2 months and had to put it away for the winter... when I could have had it for 6-7 more months if they had not put it on "constraint".

Gm produced the best combinations to order and yet failed to mention in this document that SS was not a good combo to order. This is poor customer relations, if you could only fill so many orders, then when that was filled it should have been pulled pulled from availability. This is ridiculous, and sad!
