Respectfully you are very right and very wrong at the same time. A few years back most used methanol for its cooling properties. As a cooling agent the best mix is more like 30/70 - the 70 being water. Snow changed all that. By doing a very VERY good job of atomizing the mix as it goes into the engine pure methanol can and will act as an octane and power booster. To do so requires leaning out the standard tune and jacking up the timing, but 60 to 80 hp increases are achievable. My earlier posts in this section address that.
I talked about the Pro and Cons of Meth Inj and what to expect. In short if you want the meth to make power in a big way - you are married to it and if you run out of the mix and go WOT - you are in trouble.
