Let me assure you that Chevrolet was thinking no such thing.
Neiman-Marcus puts out a catalog each year at Christmas with a lot of "wish list" items - and those items are of 'luxury' in nature. The person shopping in that catalog in earnest is looking for 'specialty' and uniqueness. That's why Neiman-Marcus does not charge Walmart prices - or, for that matter, Sears prices or Macy's prices.
Years ago, there was a saying about Rolls Royce: "If you have to ask, you cannot afford it......" (usually delivered with a sniff.....)
When the XLR was put in their catalog, it sold out in less than 20 minutes.

However, we were approached about offering 100 'special' Camaros - and we found it intriguing. Let me also assure you that if you knew how much it costs to validate a special paint, your hair just might fall out!
.......in my case, most of it already has......
So - let's see how it goes.
I do know this: 30 years from now, people will be paying STUPID amounts of money for one of these - as it will be very collectible.
