Let's use the computer analogy. Would you say today's lowend computer chips are faster than the "performance" chips of yesterday?
Of course.
BUT to call the lowend computer chip a "performance" chip in today's world is just silly. That's the point MikeSS is trying to make (or atleast I think he is).
It's the same as trying to label a 312 hp car the prestigious badge of "musclecar"...
The v6 was primarily marketed to the same crowd who buy v6 mustangs, and take a portion of those profits...can you guess the type of people who buy those?
Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with it! 312hp is nothing to laugh at! I mean, for $23k, I wouldn't have anything other than a camaro!
The v6 is meant for people who can't handle, OR don't need that much power. That is why certain people buy the v6 over the v8.
It's a paradox that the people who didn't "need" that much power... still want to label their car a true musclecar. That is what is funny about it.

Again with the changing arguments and avoiding answering the question! Really, marrketing and computer chips? You said I'm a poser because I bought the V6. Let me explain, my intention wasn't to buy a Camaro at all. I had enough saved for the Grand Sport vette and would have been able to get the Z06 early next year. My first mod was going to be to paint it British Racing Green (Green Cars and Red Trucks, it's how I roll). I've driven the ZR1, Z06 and Grand Sport and believe me even the 120K SS doesn't compare to the first two. But I also drove the SS and LT Camaros when I found out about the Synergy. I went home and read about the LLT engine and saw the potential and challenge the combination of new engine/ECU offered. I bought it. I may buy the Z06 in a few years, but not because it has a V8 -- because I love the car.
How does any of this make me or any other V6 owner a poser?
