On Thursday last week I had to go pick up some paperwork for my new Dodge Journey. It was a nice sunny day so I decided to take my 2010Camaro SS/RS to the dealership. I never even thought anything about taking the Camaro to a Dodge dealer until I seen all of the Challenger's sitting out in front as I was driving into the lot. For the record I really like the looks of the Challenger.
Anyway I pulled up to the front of the dealership next to a Challenger that a couple was checking out. I was on my cell phone when I pulled in to the lot and I wanted to finish my call before I got out of the car. When I was about to get out the women that was looking at the Challenger was standing at my window. It startled me and my first reaction was that I had parked where I wasn't supposed to or something.
I get out of the car and she immediatly says how much she likes my Camaro. In the mean time her husband was walking towards me, and there was one guy still standing on the drivers side of the Challenger. The guy asked the women if she liked the looks of the Camaro, to which she said "yes I really like it". The guy introduced himself as Eric and this was his wife Jill. He asked me if they could check out my Camaro and he started asking me several questions like what year it was, what the HP was, how much I paid for it, if I liked it, had I checked out the Challenger, etc.
After they checked out the inside Eric asked me if I could open the hood. It was about this time the guy that was still standing next to the Challenger slammed the drivers door and said to Eric " If you still want to test drive the Challenger come in when you are done." Eric then said to me "Uh oh, I don't think he is to happy with you."
Well Eric & Jill proceeded to check under the hood and ask me several more questions about my Camaro. Then they talked between themselves about where the nearest Chevy dealer was and asked me where I got mine. I told them the dealership I ordered mine from in 2009 and even told them the salesmen's name that I bought it from. I told them I had bought several cars from Mike the salesman and he is a really good guy. They thanked me for letting them check out my car, then got in their car and left.
I had to then go into the dealership's building to get the paperwork for my Dodge Journey. As I opened the door the salesman that Eric and Jill had just dissed was standing right inside of the door. He asked me if there was something I needed, I was embarrassed because of what happened so I immediately apologized to him for my timing. He looked at me and sarcastically said they would be back after they had a chance to look at the Camaro. Well after that smarta$$ed comment I didn't feel bad any more.
To sum it all up, Mike the salesman at the Chevy dealer called me earlier today and asked me if I had given a couple his name. They told him the whole story about seeing my black Camaro SS while checking out a Challenger and that I had given them his name. They couldn't remember my name but since I was the first guy to order a Camaro SS from the Chevy dealership and the only black SS/RS that Mike had sold he figured out it was me. He just wanted to thank me and let me know they bought a black SS from him and picked it up today.
So much for going back to the Dodge dealer after they checked out the Camaro! Ha Ha ha, who is the smarta$$ now?
