My humble on the trans, it’s all in the approach, how the argument is crafted and how you deliver it. I see all the elements needed possessed by you that would make it an easy decision by GM to deliver you a new Vette and they take on the responsibility of putting in the reman trans that is if they are confident in the repair.

First and foremost, you would end up with a car that had a major repair done to it. Then you decide to sell it in a year or so, the fact that the trans was repaired/replaced, may make it tougher to sell since people that buy those kinds of cars scrutinize that to the tenth degree. Carfax redflag.

Second, it sounds like you have bought many Vetts from GM, that in itself is a statement of your commitment to that platform and a great position to be in as a leverage point.

Lastly, when you disassemble something such as this, in a manner not opposite of how it was assembled, you risk assembly issues in the repair. The worst of the worst, it being a manual trans is misalignment of the trans to the bell house/engine block. You prematurely wear out clutches, the input shaft bearings are loaded in a manner unintended by design. You can have problems with shifting right away or later on because of the misalignment. It’s your car not the mechanics. Those guys are given X amount of time to replace that part, anything over, is them losing money.
