As I wrote in another thread somewhere a few days ago, in my experience the main problem with vinyl stripes on the hood is not the installation but what the combination of engine bay temperatures and the sun can do in a few years. They can fade, change colors, and dry out. Once they dry out and start to crack, they can't be satisfactorily removed with 3M's stripe remover...time to grind them off and repaint the hood. However, everywhere else on the car, vinyl can last longer than your paint job.
