So 2 days ago i went outside to warm my car up. I started it up was running great while idling, everything looked good on the gauges. I pushed in on the clutch and the car cut off (no bang, no boom, nothing, just shut off like you would turn the ignition key off). I tried restarting wondering why that happened and now it just spins over like there isn't anything in the motor at all not even trying to fire. After some calls and other things... I brought it up to my Chevy dealership told them what was going on with it, they took it for almost 4 hours only to come back and tell me that there is no compression on ALL 8 cylinders... Before i took it up there though i pulled one of the coils off the plug pulled the plug out and grounded the coil against the motor and started cranking it over (with all body parts very far away... there was no spark AT ALL from the coils.... HOWEVER dealership says the car has fire, and the injectors are working as well (because the cylinders are filled with gas... rings are probably washed out now from cranking it over without unplugging the injectors which (washed out rings will also give you a low compression reading). I haven't done my own compression test, but I'm planning that tonight as well as pulling the valve covers off and spinning the crank to see if all the rockers are moving to eliminate any timing chain jump or break... I guess one if i rule out it's mechanical i can move on to electrical... weird thing is... it's not throwing and codes at all.. I would think if it' a crank position sensor or cam sensor it would throw something and tell me it's not got current or something... THIS SUCKS!!!! I was not looking forward to ripping the motor down AGAIN... wouldn't I get some sort of pop or something out of the tail pipe if i were getting spark and fuel in the piston chamber??? I mean even if the valves were open it would make some sort of bang ...

Dang, no compression in all 8...that has to be something with the timing chain I would think....Did you install the HD timing chain and Tensioner when you did your Cam? The stock tensioner sux and has been known to break causing extreme timing chain slack and perhaps thru it or broke the chain. I assume the condition of the plugs was not giving any signs? Dealer did not scope a piston or any other test? Good luck and I feel for you. I lost compression in my number 4 cylinder but it was due to a ring gone bad. Ended up building the whole motor while it was out for the fix.
