i don't understand how the '10 camaro is avoiding the gas guzzler tax. i've been researching and am still lost. the tax is based on the average of the city/highway EPA and must average 22.5 MPG+. the V8 camaro is said to be getting 23 MPG highway. for it to make the average it has to get minimum 22 MPG city. that just doesn't make sense to me. either we haven't been told the truth about the EPA or we've misinterpreted the information and the 23 MPG is not the highway numbers but actually the average of city/highway. that would mean the camaro will get something like 18/27, which makes even less sense than 22/23.
i've seen it mentioned that there's some kind of credit given for heavier vehicles, but i've looked up the information and i don't see anything stating that anywhere. can somebody show me a link to where i can actually find this information.
at this point i find it hard to believe everything i'm hearing about the camaro's EPA. thanks for the help
