I just put about 5 square feet of Second Skin Damplifier Pro down in my trunk. I had it left over from a previous project. I didn't go crazy, I just did the area under the factory trunk carpet (I didn't pull any of the trunk's side panels off). I also got the area in the spare tire well where the battery is. I focused only on the areas that "rang" the loudest when I knocked them.
The areas that seemed to "ring" the loudest were the areas that lined up with the insulation that the factory applied to the bottom of the trunk carpet. Most of those places sounded like knocking on the side of an aluminum trailer. The areas where the car had structural elements welded to them gave a much better "thud".
It did a good job cutting down on road and tire noise with just that small amount. I'm definitely glad I did this. All in all, solid results for 5 sq ft and little effort. Eventually I'm going to sound deaden the whole car, but for now this did the trick.
