Ahhh, the DR1!

The DR1 in 89' I was a prototype for the ZR1 corvette that would debut in 1990. There was probably very few of these cars ever made, and when I say few I mean like two or three. Especially a convertible one!! The DR1 was a project between Chevrolets corvette team and Lotus which started around 1986. The engine in the DR1 was specifically designed for it creating i believe 375+ horsepower for the first few years of production from 1990-1992, and 405+horsepower from 1993-1995. Supposedly a selling point of the car is that all ZR1's would go over 200 mph straight from the dealers lots. Long story short there were 6,936 ZR1's made between 1990 and 1995. Any one of those cars if well taken care of can go for 60-100 thousand dollars. Let alone a outrageously rare DR1 corvette convertible. It's just a huuuuuuuuuuge part of corvette's history that not many people know about. For it's time the DR1 was state of the art, supposedly best corvette ever made. It doesn't surprise me at all that it went for damn near 300 grand.
