If you want practical, don't buy a Camaro. It's not a family car by any means, and having a V6 instead of a v8 doesn't change that.
It does sound like you are knocking the V6 when use the analogy of a canoe to a ski boat. Many do mod the V6 and we have one that just ran 12.015 in the 1/4 mile. We also have one with a turbo that beat the V8s on the road course. It is a good car for racing and already has quite a few accomplishments under it's belt.
