Does that mean it makes sense to buy a car for 27K and dump another 5K into it to run mid 12's?? I can gain 10-15hp on the dyno by adjusting fuel and adding timing, that's what V8's do...
Nope, you didn't say family you said practical. I have an example of how the Camaro isn't practical for most people. As for the 12's on the V6, it was way less than 5K (Nitrous is cheap). Also, why does everyone always want to compare the top-end V6 to the cheapes SS? I saw a brand new LS at the dealer for 21,999. Cheapest 1SS I saw was 31,500. There's almost 10K there to play with. With much less than that we are seeing V6s running in the mid 13s which is what a lot of SS guys are running. That is an accomplishment, whether you think it was INTENDED or not.

The OPs point was to compare the V6 to the SS Cobalt T/C. He didn't limit to just LT. Other posters, including me, pointed out that you can mod the V6 to be competitive with the Cobalt for a reasonable amount of money. You can also make it a very fast car that will nearly rival the quickest Cobalts with just nitrous. Soon we may be seeing some turbo V6s that perform better than that. Let's stick to the topic at hand and not introduce things like practical (get a Honda) and canoes vs ski boats. Otherwise you will get flamed by the true Camaro lovers like me!
