It seems to me that they changed it for the worse. Looks like it was done "the right way" on older cars (IVERS) but newer cars (CTF, etc) have it just going through the trunk opening. I sure as hell hope this wasn't to cut cost. This better have been some unforseen engineering/longevity issue that couldn't be fixed "the right way" in time.
