I don't live in central PA. I live in eastern PA, near Lancaster. GPS shows going up the east side like map #3. Going west, I would be traveling west as far as Butler and then going east again after entering Canada. The eastern route is all 4 lane highway. You still have to go around the lake after Buffalo.
