Yes, you can remove the fabric from the door panels and the dash trim. It's much easier to remove it from the dash trim since they use minimal amounts of adhesive and staples. The door panels are a pain in the ass to remove the cloth from but, it's doable. What really sucks is it's not only cloth but, a foam backing and it likes to stay on the panel when you pull off the fabric.

The secret to painting is good prep work so, the panels need to be completely free of the foam and glue before it's painted. Perhaps, somebody could chime in on the best way to remove the cloth and other stuff. I used isopropyl, a razor, and in the end used sand paper. I didn't end up painting it though. I used a black pleathor fabric and some spray adhesive and it did the trick. If I change my mind, down the road and want a different color or a graphic on the panels, it's as easy as removing the fabric and putting on a vinyl wrap or whatever.
