I generally get in my car, start it, let it idle while I fasten the seat belt, ensure the mirrors are set correctly and get comfortable... Then I usually drive easy for a minute or two at least, and unless the car is somewhat pre-warmed, I don't hammer it until all the temps are up to snuff..
