That had more to do with government restrictions and gas prices and that was the lowest powered engine the top sadly was 165hp but during that period everything else mass produced was underpowered.Mustang I4 88 horses, 5.0v8 157 horses. The corvette had a whopping 200 hp. My first Camaro a 96 V6 had that and was over half a second faster 0-60 so what defines a sports car or a muscle car or pony car it's all relative and not one person can be the judge and jury.
