Yes, at one time GM thought it would be a good idea to establish a parent identity, and as such, they stamped the little GM marque on the lower fender, rocker or lower door, depending on what GM product you had. Very much like the older GM cars that all had "GM" seatbelt buckles and floormats.

Sometime around the bankruptcy as mentioned, they stopped with the GM branding. They shifted the focus to individual brand identity, so the GM badge disappeared.
