Well...... I'm not sure that there is a good XM solution for the 9960. To add Sirius with the SCC1 tuner, use Crutchfield's 700SIRKENV with the adaptor included.
So, you are probably adding Sirius, not XM, and Sirius and XM use slightly different signaling. I have used Sirius antennas with XM boxes and vice versa, and they work, but a properly matched antenna will usually work better.
With all that said, try it. If dropouts are a problem, add the Sirius antenna included with the adaptor.
