Are you guys ready for a book?

Good! Then here is my story!

I don't know how many people still read this blog, seeing as much of the excitement has worn off since most people bought their IBM in '09. However, since I am only now purchasing, I hope somebody still reads this!

So why a Camaro? I suppose everybody has a different answer. Mine lies in my previous car history. My first car was a '93 Ford Aerostar, forest green, short version. I lovingly referred to her as "The Box". It had at least 100hp! I drove this van throughout high school (did my dad realize giving a 16 year old boy a minivan was an awesome idea? I tend to think yes!!) and my some of college, 5 years in total. Good first car. Up next, an '02 Saturn SL-1, silver. If you don't know this model of Saturn, it is possibly the least stylish car ever imagined. No acceleration (maybe 120hp at best), no room, no style (but realiable). This was the next 5 years of my driving life. Ok, so I'm only 25 now (you can call me Dr. 25, thank you!) but after 10 bland, listless years of driving, I want something exciting!! Enter the Camaro.

I recently graduated pharmacy school (spring '10), and have just now built up enough money for a decent downpayment. I chose IBM in large part thanks to all of you who have posted on this site.

Did anyone else have to argue with their girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband/significant other/whatever about which model to get? My girlfriend was very sure that I should get the V6 automatic. Of all people to help convince me that she was wrong, my dad was the final person to convince me. Since I had never bought a new car before, I took him to the dealer with me. We test drove both V8 and V6 models, and when we were almost done with the V6, he said, "Son, this is your daily driving vehicle. Are you going to regret that you didn't get exactly what you want every single time you get in this car, or are you going to get the car that you want?" Well, that sealed it!! I pretty much splurged my ass of with this car, but I don't regret it at all!

So here I am, late January, with my order produced and en route. I think I may keep the Saturn as a winter driver, but that does not mean I will be storing this beauty. Perhaps once the proverbial shininess wears off, I may, but not yet. Not yet for a long time.

Finally, the issue of naming. Like I said, I'm a pharmacist now, and I was thinking of naming her Zoloft. You see, Zoloft is blue and makes you happy. I suppose Viagra is the same, but too obvious for my taste. What have other people named their's?

So there is my story that nobody asked for. Thanks everybody for posting, it was most helpful in making my own decision. Happy driving everybody!!!!!!!
