I guess I can see everyone's point on this. It does have a high trap speed, but I would be one not to catch that in reading because I havn't ever been to a dragstrip and raced myself. I do have a 99 Z28 that is basically stock A4 with 2.73's, and when I first bought it I was impressed, but now I'm getting used to it. I hope the 5th gen does do really good, I'd like to see it.

get rid of those 2.73s for some 3.73s or at least some 3.42s or even 3.23s at the least. then throw a converter at that beast and hang on.
as for the stock LS1 10.65, thats the bolt-on record for the moment. no internal modification save for rockers. but theres also a metric shit ton of weight removed from the car as well

Try Patrick Bedard, who raced twice in the Indy 500. Or Csaba Cere, who has competed in a ton of 24-hour events, and has driven every kind of car you can imagine, up to Nascar and F1 cars. You think these guys don't know how to drive?
My point is that you can't make a blanket statement like that. If all the magazines are getting similar numbers, why not just accept it?
And Car And Driver did test a 6-speed manual GXP when they got the 13.3 @ 109 mph 1/4 mile run, for those who think it was an auto.

racing circle track doesnt mean they know how to launch a car at a drag strip.
