The more I think about it, the more I believe the $47,000 is an accurate figure. From a business standpoint, I figure GM is thinking that starting out low gets you in the showroom. The ZL1 is being pitted against the GT500. We know this. There will be endless comparisons through magazines, the internet and any other form a media you can think of. There will be a bunch of sexy options to choose from which will easily drive the cost up. Just like the GT500.
We'll know more in Q4 2011 but this makes sense. That's a good starting point and they can advertise the ZL1 as the fastest car under $50,000. That's smart too.
You could easily buy a base model but the options, like suede, will be there to tempt you.
This is exciting and interesting to think about and it only makes too much sense not to assume the ZL1 will line up pretty even with the GT500 when it comes to pricing and options.
