LT1s are fun cars I had a 95 Z28, great car. The starter is a PITA and the plugs but once you do them you will do them much faster the next time. A good tool is a shortened spark plug socket. Just put it on the plug and it lets the electrode slide all the way out and just put a wrench on the socket. Saves tons of time on the plugs, they are on Ebay all the time.
They run low 14's to high 13's but with the right bolt-ons(no cam yet) get deep in the 12's. Just don't get the opti wet and buy some sub-frame connectors. They are crucial to these cars. SFC's make a huge difference in frame rigidity and in most cases stops any squeaks or rattles you might have. Oh and make sure they weld-in and not bolt-in. The bolt holes stretch out over time.
