Because I can't. When the car is on, I can, so it's not such a huge deal. I'm also getting super notchy shifts after the car being out of service for nearly 2 months, even when it's warmed up completely.

There is a reverse lockout solenoid in the TR6060. Basically when your car is off, power to the reverse lockout solenoid is off.
