Why would changing the battery effect your warranty? Of course it wouldn't. There is nothing wrong with the battery being in the trunk. heck, Corvettes use to have it behind the drivers seat and Audis use to have it beneath the rear seat. Come to think of it, the VW Beetle had the battery under the rear seat also. And that was before sealed type batteries were the norm.
