There are mistakes that GM made. But being extorted from by the union isn't one of them. Read about the Andolushia AL steel mill in the past. It's either close the doors or give in to a union. The steel mill closed the doors. 550 morons who were allready making more than anyone else in the area, out of work.

But how about GM doing things like building GMC Sierra I think, and a Silverado and basicaly competing against themselves. I mean how much sense does that make.

What if I bought the office space down the street from me, and named it something different and opened up shop doing the same thing. Hey I have two business two seperate sets of overhead costs; Advertising, utilities, labor, etc. and half the clients. What kind of moron am I now?
This guy makes a lot of sense.. However I still want a rebadged Camaro called a Firebird in four years time once the Camaro fever and sales dip down. Then you cut production of the Camaro accordingly in about half and create the Firebird in the same plant. That would be smart business at that point in time and keep the customers and enthusiasts happy. But I do agree with you on the Sierra and Silverado..
